Measure, manage, minimise

Accurate reporting identifies emission hotspots, enabling smarter energy use and cost savings

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting is the process of measuring, compiling, and submitting emissions data generated by an organisation’s operations. In South Africa, it is a mandatory legal requirement for qualifying entities under the National Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulations (NGERs). A GHG reporting system ensures accurate emissions tracking, regulatory compliance, and contributes to a transparent national greenhouse gas inventory.

Registration

Companies must register their facilities with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment NAEIS

Data Collection and Calculation

Companies must collect activity data for their emission sources. Using methodologies this data is used to calculate the total emissions of gases

Submission

The calculated emissions data must be submitted to the DFFE by March 31st for the preceding calendar year
